In 1986 a start was made on a new-build working McConnell Bloomer. Unfortunately in 1990, when 90% complete, the project stalled. However, in November 2019, what had been completed was shown at Warley. Here is a selection of photographs (almost all) from that exhibition.
Precise details of the LNWR Southern Division locomotive liveries are non-existent, and photographs show various lining styles, so the lining seen on the tender is an attempt, partly based on a tiny coloured sketch, at a typical scheme of the 1860s. The number ‘670’ is a sad mistake, quite impossible in Southern Division days, and evidently inspired by an inaccurate painting by Hamilton Ellis.
