The Engineer magazine - - The Locomotive Works at Crewe

Published 1866

Often see this magazine quoted for articles on 1800's LNWR engineering. Here we have an early article about Crewe works describing some of the tooling in use. Although Web had been in charge for almost 20 years there are descriptions of tools from Ramsbottoms time. Twenty years would not have seen quite the same upgrade and replacement programs we see today.

The complete article contains information on the GCR as well as the LNWR.
